Join us in person or virtually on April 8 for a lecture from the University of Cambridge's Dr. William Janeway. His presentation is structured to provide a historical account of events followed by an analysis that draws out the significant elements and learnings.

In 1983, Life Technologies was founded through the merger of Bethesda Research Laboratories (“BRL”) and Grand Island Biological Company (“GIBCO”). Behind that routine corporate transaction lies a dramatic exercise in venture capital improvisation over the abyss.

A statewide program for military members transitioning to civilian life is getting a boost from a federal career training initiative. Military Outreach and Veterans Engagement (MOVE), launched in 2019 by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, has joined the U.S. Department of Defense’s SkillBridge initiative. SkillBridge provides retiring and transitioning service members with access to industry training programs offered by employers nationwide.

BPD’s 6th Annual Cell and Gene Therapy (CGT) Symposium and Vendor Show will be held Friday, Apr. 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Friday Conference Center in Chapel Hill, NC.

The North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) in partnership with First Flight Venture Center, is launching the SBIR/STTR Funding to Launch an Innovation Small Business - Hybrid Road Tour, a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs across North Carolina.

The first Clinical Outsourcing Group: CRO Summit was held in Raleigh on Dec. 3-4, 2024. The event brought together more than 200 attendees to explore opportunities for improving collaboration between sponsors and clinical research organizations (CROs).  

BPD BioGrow 2025

This free event will showcase North Carolina’s biologics and pharmaceutical (biopharma) manufacturing educational and career opportunities statewide. Hear from a panel of recent grads who have successfully completed local training programs to obtain employment and a panel of industry representatives discussing what it takes to get hired at their company.
