Procter & Gamble Co. (P&G), the world’s largest maker of packaged consumer goods, will invest $110 million and create 46 jobs as it expands its manufacturing plant in Greensboro.

“We are excited to expand our operations in Greensboro, in order to better meet demand for our products and serve our consumers,” said Plant Manager Elke Feierabend. “We are grateful to the Greensboro community for their continued support, and we look forward to many years of partnership and growth.”

P&G will add about 80,000 square feet of production space at its facility on Swing Road, west of downtown, which operates seven days a week, currently with some 330 employees and contract workers. It also has a production and distribution facility in the Guilford County community of Browns Summit.

“This expansion is a prime opportunity for Greensboro and Guilford County to add quality jobs as we enhance our advanced manufacturing portfolio,” said Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan.

The expansion decision “proves our strong workforce makes our community one of the best places to do business,” said Anita Bachmann, chair of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Several economic development entities worked to secure the expansion. The Guilford County Economic Development Alliance, consisting of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and High Point Economic Development Corporation, worked together with the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Guilford Technical Community College, the Guilford County Workforce Development Board, Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, North Carolina Department of Commerce, and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina.

P&G is a Fortune 500 company with operations in about 70 countries worldwide, selling 65 brands for products including toothpaste, laundry detergent, razor blades, diapers, shampoo and toilet paper. The Cincinnati-based conglomerate has about 101,000 employees, about 1,500 of them in North Carolina, and reported net sales of $76.1 billion in 2021.
