If you’re an executive or director of one of North Carolina’s 790 life sciences companies, now’s the time to set aside May 4 on your corporate calendar.

The Research Triangle chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) is sponsoring a full-day forum – Leading from the Boardroom: Navigating the Life Science Boardroom – that is targeted specifically at you.

The in-person event will include a keynote speaker, panel discussions, peer-to-peer group sessions and networking opportunities, all focused on the important issues that impact the boardrooms of life sciences companies.

NACD is offering the forum in partnership with The North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech), the North Carolina Biosciences Organization (NCBIO), ONBoardNC, the University of North Carolina’s Director Diversity Initiative (DDI) and Women in Bio (WIB). The event will be held at NCBiotech. Registration is $25 for NACD members, and $125 for non-members.

Topics on the agenda include:

  • The emergence of biotech hubs from the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • Fueling innovation;
  • The art of fundraising;
  • Leveraging strategic partnerships to build commercial pipelines; and
  • Expanding and adapting corporate boards to support growth.

Attendees will have an opportunity to explore the topics in more depth as part of peer-to-peer lunch breakout sessions.

The keynote speaker for the event is Travis McCready, executive director and life sciences national practice leader at JLL, a global professional services company that specializes in real estate and investment management. He will discuss the factors that currently fuel the rapid growth of the life sciences.

A number of regional life sciences executives and business leaders also are included among the panelists for the various sessions.

“The ‘Navigating the Life Science Boardroom’ form will provide a terrific opportunity for our biotech companies in North Carolina – many of whom are in their early stages of growth – to learn from the experts and network with their peers,” said Vivian Doelling, Ph.D., vice president of emerging company development at the Biotech Center. “NCBiotech is delighted to be a part of the event.”

The forum will begin at 11 a.m. on Wednesday May 4 and conclude at 6 p.m., following a networking reception. More information can be found on the Research Triangle NACD website.
