Durham-based Gilero plans $6.4M expansion in Greensboro
Gilero, a medical device manufacturer with two sites in North Carolina, is expanding to a third site in the state -- a new 60,500-square-foot manufacturing facility in Greensboro that is expected to create 37 jobs.
The company will invest $6.4 million to outfit a facility it has leased at 486 Gallimore Dairy Road on the west side of the city, near Interstate 40 just south of Piedmont Triad International Airport.

The site will produce components for medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging, as well as desiccant solutions to keep moisture-sensitive drugs and devices dry. Production will begin in the second quarter of 2025, the company announced in a news release.
“The launch of our Greensboro facility marks an exciting milestone for Gilero as we continue to expand our capabilities to support our clients’ evolving needs,” said Ted Mosler, president of Sanner US, the parent company of Gilero. “With this facility, we will be able to provide even greater value to our clients through faster production timelines, enhanced quality control and increased flexibility.”
The facility, featuring class 7 and 8 clean rooms, will house state-of-the-art injection molding and desiccant filling machines and quality control laboratories to serve growing customer demand in the North American pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.
Expanding footprint in NC
The Greensboro site will be Gilero’s third in North Carolina, joining a headquarters office in Durham and a design, assembly and packaging facility in Pittsboro.
“Expanding in Greensboro allows us to enhance our operations with strategic proximity to our Durham headquarters,” said Wade Stauffer, vice president of manufacturing, molding and assembly at Gilero. “This facility will be crucial in supporting our site’s mission to deliver precision-engineered components for the medical and pharmaceutical industries, ensuring we meet our clients' stringent regulatory and quality requirements.”
Gilero’s investment in Greensboro was supported by a Guilford County Economic Development Alliance, consisting of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce and High Point Economic Development Corporation. The Alliance worked together with the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, Duke Energy, Guilford Technical Community College, Guilford Works, Piedmont Natural Gas and the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
“This expansion represents a collaborative victory for our region,” said Brent Christensen, president and chief executive officer of the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce. “It highlights how our public and private partners are working together to create a thriving business ecosystem that attracts and retains innovative companies like Gilero.”

Founded in 2002, Gilero began as an engineering design firm with a focus on single-use medical device products. Since then, the company has grown into a full-service contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) for the design, development and contract manufacturing of everything from consumable medical devices to complex electromechanical drug delivery systems.
Gilero has more than 130 employees at facilities in the United States, Mexico and Ireland. The employees include engineers spanning the biomedical, mechanical, electrical and software engineering specialties, and experts in regulatory affairs, product development, manufacturing, supply chain and strategic planning.
Gilero was acquired in September by Sanner Group, a global healthcare packaging and medical device CDMO headquartered in Bensheim, Germany, about 40 miles south of Frankfurt. Sanner, a privately held company founded in 1894, serves clients in more than 150 countries and has over 820 employees.
