Life science start-up companies, event sponsors, researchers and educators received $3.58 million in loans and grants from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center during the final quarter of the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013.

Life-science companies, start-ups, event sponsors, researchers and educators received $2.59 million in loans and grants from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center during the past fiscal quarter.

The awards, in seven programs, went to successful applicants across the state to support life-science entrepreneurship, technology commercialization and education.

 

What happened with NCBiotech set out to map the state's bioscience companies? 

Life-science companies, start-ups, event sponsors, researchers and educators received $2.9 million in loans and grants from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center during the second fiscal quarter.
 

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center has been working for about 30 years to create jobs in the life sciences statewide.

So we hope you realize by now why we’ve been humbly fist-pumping our way through, and past, the recession.

From 2001 through 2010, the most recent data show, North Carolina’s 23.5 percent life-science jobs growth has led the nation.

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center awarded more than $1.37 million in the first quarter of the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

Sequester schmester.

The federal government’s automatic spending cuts that went into effect March 1 could have dropped a big lug on a gathering of North Carolina’s life-science community.

The federal budget slash almost upended a March 20 keynote speech at the long-planned inaugural Exchange Group Summit organized by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.

Norris Tolson, president and CEO of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, will be one of three honored with the prestigious Watauga Medal by North Carolina State University for his distinguished service to the university at the university's Founders' Day Dinner March 9.

Fifth Annual Ag Biotech Entrepreneurial Showcase Set for May 10-11

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center scoured the planet for some of the world’s most innovative crop and animal-health companies to present at the fifth annual Ag Biotech Entrepreneurial Showcase this spring in Research Triangle Park.

The NCBiotech Library will be undergoing a renovation from Friday, July 1 through Tuesday, July 12. If you need to use our market reports or databases, library services will be available by appointment.

NCBiotech named Douglas L. Edgeton, a experienced leader in healthcare and life sciences, as the new President and CEO. Edgeton is currently senior vice president for financial planning and development at NCBiotech, with two decades of prior experience at academic medical centers, Wake Forest University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
