Gain real-world experience through our structured apprenticeship program, combining hands-on training with classroom learning. Eligible participants may receive a BioWork scholarship, full pay, and benefits like health insurance.

North Carolina community colleges and biopharmaceutical manufacturing companies are collaborating to provide financial support for students pursuing the BioWork program. After completing BioWork, students can apply for an apprenticeship with one of the participating companies in the North Carolina Life Sciences Apprenticeship Consortium

What is BioWork?

The North Carolina Community College system offers a certificate program that equips students with foundational skills for entry-level jobs in biopharma manufacturing. The BioWork certificate program is offered at 14 local community colleges with in-person, hybrid, and online learning options. The time to complete the BioWork training ranges from six weeks to three and a half months.

BioWork opens the door to apprenticeship opportunities at various partner life science companies across North Carolina.

 

What Does An Exciting Apprenticeship Pathway Look Like?

A pre-apprenticeship is a formal pathway to employment in biopharma manufacturing. The three phases are training, an apprenticeship, and employment. BioWork is the most common training for this career pathway.
