3 Biotech Center Women Among Awardees

Three women from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center have been selected from among several thousand nominees as 2011 winners of Business Leader Media’s 10th Annual Women Extraordinaire Awards, which honor top women business leaders of the South.

The Biotech Center trio includes Marjorie Benbow, JD, MBA, MSPH, executive director of the Greater Charlotte Office; Nancy Johnston, executive director of the Piedmont Triad Office in Winston-Salem; and Shobha Parthasarathi, Ph.D., technology development director at the organization’s Research Triangle Park headquarters.

The women were among dozens of winners honored at separate awards luncheons organized by the business publication in their respective regions. Nominees are chosen to receive the award if they’re determined to be influential leaders within their fields of endeavor, making an extraordinary impact on its economic success and contributing forward-thinking strategies.

Award winners are profiled in Business Leader magazine, the Business Leader website and interviewed on Business Leader Radio.

For the past 20 years, Business Leader Media has covered local business news via magazines, websites, email newsletters, and developed numerous networking and awards events, ranging from the “top small businesses of the South” to “women leaders of excellence,” from “catalyst entrepreneurs” to “business leaders of the year.”
