Once a crossroads, Holly Springs is now a national biotech powerhouse
How Holly Springs went from being a quiet town to winning billions in life sciences investments expected to create thousands of high-paying jobs.
Next steps for the town's life sciences industry could include companies that further build out the local supply chain.
Doug Edgeton, president and CEO of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, compared what would come next to an automobile factory.
"Once you get that plant, then it's the things that supply to it," Edgeton said. "We have the equivalent of five or six automobile plants down there (in Holly Springs), so we've got a lot of things that could be supplying the needs of those companies."
