Cambrex celebrates new Q1 Scientific stability storage facility in Durham
Cambrex, a New Jersey-based global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), celebrated the grand opening of its new Q1 Scientific stability storage facility in Durham, the company’s third facility and its first in the U.S.
The event on Thursday, April 10, was attended by employees, local government representatives, trade organizations, and leaders from the life sciences industry, who were given the opportunity to tour the state-of-the-art cGMP facility. The tour included the environmentally controlled stability storage suite, analytical chemistry laboratories, and reference standards suite.

Located in the Research Triangle Park, the new temperature-controlled and monitored storage facility provides 7 ICH stability chambers, covering a range of temperature and relative humidity conditions. The RTP location will provide same-day and next-day delivery nationwide.
This expansion complements Q1 Scientific’s existing facilities in Waterford, Ireland, and Liège, Belgium. The Durham facility is co-located within Cambrex’s established analytical services site to provide integrated solutions for pharmaceutical clients. Cambrex acquired Q1 Scientific in 2023.
At the ceremony, Brandon Fincher, president of the Early Stage Development and Testing business unit, said, “It’s an honor to support our local life sciences community here in Durham, North Carolina. Stephen Delaney, Managing Director of Q1 Scientific, highlighted the expanded capabilities offered by the Durham site, “With the capabilities and expertise co-located in Durham, we can now deliver services beyond stability storage, such as stability testing and other analytical services for clinical and commercial products.”
