Project Description:
Researchers at Duke University Medical Center are developing a novel fluorescent assay to diagnose heparin induced thrombocytopenia, a devastating complication of commonly used blood thinners, that is difficult to diagnose, requires radioactive materials, and often requiring samples to be shipped to off-site laboratories, thereby incurring long processing times.
