About

Chris joined NCBiotech in May of 2024 as Director of Economic Development. He is responsible for providing technical scientific and business expertise in support of the creation, management, and measuring of programs that leverage North Carolina’s technology-based assets to attract and retain life sciences jobs and investments.

Brown started his career as an analytical chemist for multiple companies in Research Triangle Park before transitioning to economic development activities in South Bend, IN. He previously served as an economic development professional for the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce and the St. Joseph County, IN government, where he focused on business retention, expansion, and attraction efforts to promote the region. He is excited to return to North Carolina and bring his unique blend of scientific and economic development experience to help support the life sciences industry.

Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry/biochemistry from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, and completed his Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University South Bend. He also holds a graduate certificate in economic development from the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.
