Project Description: CAR T-therapy enlists a patient's own immune system to fight cancer. Typically, a patient’s immune cells are collected and isolated in a laboratory, which requires a lot of labor and costly cell manipulation, limiting its widespread use. The proposed research will test a radical alternative, where an implanted scaffold recruits, reprograms, and releases CAR-T cells inside of patients - completely eliminating cell manipulation outside of the patient’s body.
