Project Description: Children are being turned away from life-changing clinical trials in gene therapy because of the inability to produce sufficient small adenovirus proteins that are required to deliver the genes to the correct cells. However, the process of making the proteins in cells is toxic to those cells, which limits the amount of protein that can be produced. This project will develop non-toxic variants that can be used in current manufacturing process to increase production for gene therapy.
