Educational content to be discussed:

  • Pitch session around problem company is solving and solution provided
  • Interaction with key science-focused resource mentors
  • Review SBIR/STTR proposal components
  • Develop a strategy for relationship building with Program Officers
  • Mock review of actual successful SBIR/STTR grants to help companies navigate the grant review process and to improve their own grant writing
  • Small group activities to comprehend budget preparation intricacies and other administrative aspects of the application
  • Customized critique of companies’ specific aims / technical objectives
  • Tips and tricks presentation from past SBIR/STTR award winners, prior FAST Cohort companies and other successful SBIR/STTR applicants
  • Mentoring on the business development side of the company by serial entrepreneurs, investors, venture capitalists and stakeholders

More Information

To be eligible for the First Flight 2022 FAST cohort, companies must meet the following criteria:

  • The company must be headquartered in North Carolina
  • The company must submit a Phase I SBIR/STTR application during 2022.
  • The company should be seeking support for the preparation of a Phase I SBIR or STTR application only. Fast Track and Direct-to-Phase II applicants are not eligible.
