About
Steve Fowler joined the Biotech Center in October 2019 as Grants Management Specialist. He is responsible for the day-to-day administration of post-award grant activities, which includes invoicing, payments, reporting and communicating with grantees to ensure proper adherence of The North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s grant regulations.
Before joining NCBiotech, Steve was a senior -award consultant for North Carolina State University. There he managed a portfolio of Grants grants and Contracts contracts for numerous principal investigators within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Before joining NC State, he worked many years as a business officer where he audited state and federal grants while working in the Office of the Internal Auditor within the NC Department of Health and Human Services.
Steve was born in Long Island, NY, but moved to Northern Virginia as a child. After high school, Steve joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served as a Boatswain’s Mate where he was stationed in Emerald Isle, North Carolina and Frankfort, Michigan during his enlistment. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in business administration from NC Wesleyan College.
