Hee-Sook Song joined NCBiotech in September 2022 as the Workforce Development Director. In this role on the Life Science Economic Development team, Hee-Sook is responsible for directing NCBiotech initiatives focused on the development of North Carolina’s life sciences workforce.
As part of these efforts, she will also provide leadership in managing numerous external partnerships essential to the development of the talent ecosystem required to support North Carolina’s life sciences community.
Hee-Sook has strong experience in Agricultural Biotechnology R&D including leadership roles at BASF and Monsanto/DeKalb Genetics. Her experience includes establishing and leading operational functions, managing enabling programs to produce innovative tools and technologies for trait performance, and protecting IP. She has outstanding experience in people development and talent management.
Hee-Sook earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Sookmyung Women’s University and a master’s degree in Plant Biology from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea. She completed her Ph.D. in Plant Pathology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
