Mission and Goals:
The purpose of the North Carolina Triangle Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (Triangle Chapter SfN) is to boost the Society for Neuroscience’s (SfN) mission locally by bringing together neuroscientists from around the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and surrounding areas) to:
Promote training and outreach programs
Provide networking events
Facilitate information sharing across institutions (academic, government, and industry)
Engage and educate our community about neuroscience research & industry and its impact on society
Most events (Trivia, Outreach Events, Annual Neuroscience Research Meeting, and our Annual Chapter Anniversary Meeting) are open to the public and require registration. Attendees typically include local academic neuroscientists at all levels (trainees to faculty) from surrounding institutions like Duke, UNC, NCCU, NCSU, etc. We also have attendees representing government, industry, and the general public at our events and our Annual Neuroscience Research Meeting.
Our council meetings, held monthly, are open to any member of Triangle SfN. Council members (listed above) must attend these monthly meetings and are permitted two absences throughout the year.
Regular membership shall be open to any person holding an advanced degree, residing within the Triangle, who is an active member of the Society. Membership in the Chapter must be renewed annually.
Student membership shall be open to anyone pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, residing within the Triangle.
Partner Membership is open to any person or organization interested in research on the nervous system, residing within the Triangle, and approved by the Council
Council will set the annual dues for each Member of the Chapter according to the needs of the Chapter. Dues may be modified only once yearly.
