Project Description:
Two million abdominal surgeries are performed annually in the U.S., with ventral hernia caused by tension being a frequent complication. To overcome this problem, researchers at Duke have patented a transformative hernia mesh that dissipates tension and overcomes all six failure models of current hernia meshes on the market.
