New Strategies to Combat Drug Resistant Bacterial Infections

Project Description: Researchers will seek new drug leads to combat serious antibiotic resistant bacterial (MRSA) infections from a collection of hundreds of fungal cultures. Instead of looking for new antibiotics to which resistance can develop rapidly, the researchers will take a novel approach and pursue leads that make MRSA less virulent (i.e. less toxic), such that the patient can clear the infection.
