Project Description: Survival of bacteria, fungi, and viruses on improperly sterilized surfaces leads to pathogen transmission to new hosts, which in turn considerably increases their threat to human health. To combat this threat, we propose the development of light-activated cellulose coatings with anti-infective properties, thus creating novel renewable, biodegradable, antimicrobial consumer staples.
