Last week we announced that RTP’s own UVision360 Hysteroscopy Systems was competing in the MD+DI annual Medtech Startup Showdown. With the support of our scientific community, UVision has made it to Round 2.

Dignify Therapeutics, a drug-development company focused on restoring bladder and bowel control to people with spinal injury, spina bifida, and other neurological conditions, has received $3.1 million in federal funding to advance its lead drug candidate.

BioFluidica, a Chapel Hill company developing a product using liquid biopsies for cancer detection. has completed a $2 million Series A funding round.

CivaTech Oncology, a Research Triangle Park company developing cancer therapy devices with funding help from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, is featured in an abstract that will get a “Best in Show” award at an upcoming scientific meeting.

The North Carolina Biotechnology Center awarded 21 grants and loans totaling $2.5 million to companies, universities and nonprofit organizations across the state during the third quarter of its 2015-2016 fiscal year ending March 31.

Zoion Pharma of Durham has formed a collaboration with the French veterinary company Ceva Santé Animale to develop a treatment for eye diseases in companion animals.

Funding and other support from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center helped lay important groundwork for a possible $1.2 billion influx from Vertex Pharmaceuticals to Durham cystic fibrosis drug developer Parion Sciences.

Zen-Bio, a Research Triangle Park biotechnology and contract research firm, has landed another in a string of National Institutes of Health grants – this one for $224,000 to help in the global fight against obesity.
