2013 Summer Biotechnology Workshops for Educators

Registration is Now Open for our 2013 Summer Workshops!

In our 27th consecutive year of this program we are offering introductory-level workshops for high school and middle school teachers in addition to workshops on stem cells and the growing problem of antibiotic-resistant pathogens.  This year we also are featuring agricultural biotechnology workshops for middle and high school teachers. College faculty with introductory biology teaching responsibilities also are welcome in the high school-level Introductory Biotechnology workshops.

Register soon to ensure a seat in the workshop you’d like to attend. A non-refundable $75 registration fee is required. Workshop participants receive free tuition; free room and board (double-occupancy; two meals per day); CEUs, and a $50 per day stipend.

Through this popular professional development program, any teacher in North Carolina can bring hands-on biotechnology into his or her classroom at minimal cost.  Workshop graduates have access to follow-up support including:  (1) Annual allotments of free lab supplies for biotech experiments; and (2) Access to lab equipment on loan for two-week periods, shipped free of charge to schools.

Note:  Only educators teaching at institutions located in North Carolina are eligible for NCBiotech workshops and support programs.
