Science in the Mountains

More Frequent, More Focused

Science discussion is reaching new heights in the mountains of Western North Carolina. And now it’s happening more often.

Rooted in the biennial conference, Science in the Mountains is embarking on a new schedule for 2012 and beyond. Now, new sources of funding and support are opening doors to commercialization possibilities for regionally important advanced technologies from medicinal plants to medical diagnostics and therapeutics.

Each quarterly session will have a more in-depth topic focus, to highlight thought-leading work most likely to be converted to new business opportunities and jobs appropriate to the region and its unique assets. An ongoing series of intellectual property/technology transfer workshops is also in development.
