Looking for help? Try Our Job Seeker Resource Database

By Rachel Krasich, Ph.D., NCBiotech research analyst intern

“Where is best place to start looking for jobs?”

“How do I improve my resume so I get noticed?”

“What do I do if I want to switch fields?”

I’ve heard all of these questions from friends and colleagues entering the workforce. And for a Ph.D. graduate, one of the most frequent questions of all is: “So what comes next?” I was able to address these questions as a Research Analyst intern at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. My goal was to enhance the NCBiotech Company Directory by creating a Job Seeker Resource Database that would help job seekers and companies alike.

The NCBiotech Company Directory is already a great source of information about life science companies statewide. With 600 bioscience companies and 2000+ support companies listed, the directory is a great starting point for finding exciting opportunities in the state.

While the Directory already includes a number of job-seeker resources, the new NCBiotech Job Services page has links to different categories of job seeker support, such as:

The Database is particularly unique as the majority of the companies are focused on assisting job seekers specifically in the science and technology fields.

In the short term, the Job Seeker Resource Database provides job seekers with a multitude of ways to improve their job search, and increases their chance of landing their ideal job. In the long term, connecting job seekers with local

opportunities ultimately promotes a thriving and growing economy in North Carolina.

As a job seeker myself, I was excited to help create an organized resource that would be valuable for future employees across the state. As I prepare to enter workforce, I feel more prepared for my job search as a result of my internship as an analyst at NCBiotech. I believe other job seekers will find the Job Seeker Resource Database as useful as I have.

Whether you are searching for your first job or trying to move up your career path, job searching can be a very daunting task. It is no longer simply filing out applications and waiting for a call back; successful searches must be much more proactive than that. The staff at NCBiotech is continuously finding new ways to assist job seekers, improving ways to connect biotech talent with opportunity across North Carolina.

So please, take a minute to browse the expanded Company Directory. You never know what you might find!
