Mr. David H. Murdock is the visionary behind North Carolina Research Center. As owner of Dole Foods Company, Inc., Mr. Murdock has a long-standing commitment to the health and welfare of people around the world. After realizing the great potential of biotechnology to cure disease and improve health, he dedicated more than one billion dollars of his personal funds to developing the NCRC. His vision for NCRC is to create a world class research hub where collaborative science will lead the chardge for great discoveries in nutrition, health and biotechnology research. The discovery and innovation performed at the NCRC will have a lasting effect on the way that the country, and the world, lives.
At the NCRC, the world's leading researchers from academia and industry are stimulating discovery and fostering collaboration that is advancing the fields of nutrition, agriculture, and biotechnology. The goal is to enhance the understanding of the links between nutrition and disease in order to translate scientific discovery into new models of prevention, treatment and cures while raising the standards of healthy living for people worldwide.
