In Bio Jobs Hub, we routinely profile individuals who have chosen one of North Carolina’s community colleges as a pathway to a career in the fast-growing biomanufacturing industry.

Many of the people we’ve profiled have earned a BioWork certificate or biotechnology-related degree to prepare themselves for their new careers in the life sciences. When asked how they found their jobs, many of them give the same answer: community college-sponsored career fairs.

In August, the BioNetwork Learning Solutions Center and Gaston College, just west of Charlotte, will host a summer career fair for BioWork, life science degree and BioNetwork students and job seekers. The virtual event will be Wednesday, August 3, from 3 to 6 p.m.

North Carolina students who reserve a spot are eligible to have their resumes reviewed before the event. Webinars will also prepare students for the virtual chat and interview experience.

BioNetwork held a spring career fair on April 21, connecting students, colleges and biopharma companies, including:

  • 128 students from nine community colleges and six universities;
  • 22 biopharma companies, and;
  • Five job placement agencies.

That event involved nearly 550 unique chat sessions with companies including Abzena, Eli Lilly, GSK and Novo Nordisk, resulting in 98 job interviews for more than 100 job openings.
