About
Jason Doherty is Senior Director of Investments with the Emerging Company Development team at NCBiotech. In this role, he supports the life sciences industry in North Carolina by providing guidance to early-stage companies seeking business and financing support and identifying promising companies for funding through NCBiotech’s strategic loan programs.
Jason has over 20 years of experience in life sciences research, technology commercialization, and startup strategy. As a business incubation professional, he has worked with early-stage biotechnology startups to secure intellectual property and licensing rights to key technology, build out management teams and advisory- and corporate- boards, evaluate market opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and secure non-dilutive and equity-based financing. He has also taught entrepreneurship and technology commercialization topics in higher education and at conferences, panels, and workshops.
Jason earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University and a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also holds a professional certification in Business Incubation Management.
