Greiner Bio-One's Plastics Aren't Your Average Bottle or Jug

It’s not your average bottle or jug coming off the shipping dock of the Greiner Bio-One plastics manufacturing company in the Union County city of Monroe.

In fact, the bottles, tubes and other plasticware designed and made at this growing factory some 25 miles southeast of Charlotte involve high-tech, high-value materials and processes demanded by the scientific research and medical industries that make up the company’s customer base.

The latest example is the company’s newly redesigned MiniCollect K2EDTA Capillary Collection Tube. The tubes are intended for the collection, transport and evaluation of capillary blood samples. The redesigned product includes an integrated scoop, allowing droplets of blood to be collected easily following skin puncture and reducing the number of accessories required.

The new tube can then be threaded into a carrier tube, giving the combination the functionality of a standard blood collection tube. In addition, the company’s proprietary MiniCollect Complete offers the advantage of having the MiniCollect permanently affixed to the carrier tube, which can be labeled as the primary tube.
