Project Description: Researchers at NC State have designed a novel therapeutic peptide that inactivates the toxin released by Clostridiodes difficile, which is often a hospital-acquired infection of the GI tract. Preliminary research has confirmed that this peptide performs equivalently or better than existing anti-toxin drugs. The purpose of this proposal is to establish a minimally-effective concentration for the peptide, and investigate the manufacturability of this peptide by probiotic yeast.
