Project Description: Pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) are small molecules produced by microbes and/or by our own body that can activate the immune system. For this project, PAMPS will be investigated as next-generation immunotherapeutics for cancer treatment. The first experimental step will be to encapsulate PAMPS in a particle delivery system for delivery to specific types of immune system cells. This award will allow researchers to develop a degradable biopolymer based particle system that overcomes many of the challenges of intracellular delivery of molecules to cells.
