Networking Workshop: Practical and Tangible Strategies to Network Comfortably and Confidently

Navigating the job search is not all that intuitive. It’s a frustrating process that forces us to rely on hope. (Not ideal when the income is turned off.) If you are reading this, you’ve probably concluded at some point that solely relying on the job application process is not sufficient to progress your job search. (I generally don’t like to make assumptions, but I’m playing the odds here) Chances are you’ve also reluctantly accepted that the only way to make progress with the job search is to ask strangers for help. In other words … networking.

Networking has a different meaning for everyone. For folks entering the job search, recovering from a layoff, or trying to change careers, networking generally is synonymous with anxiety. The purpose of this workshop is to change that mindset, instill confidence, and to provide a networking strategy that works for you. If you are unhappy with your search, it’s time to take action. Let’s get started!

Who can benefit?

Individuals who find networking challenging (most of us, including me)
Introverts who struggle with group settings
Extroverts who are comfortable with conversations, but find it difficult to follow though

Topics we will focus on:

Define the problem with networking
How to mentally and emotionally prepare for a networking event
Establish conversation strategies (with active learning modules)
Purposeful actions to take after the networking event
