NCABR Rx for Science Literacy Series: The Brain-Understanding Neurobiology Through the Study of Addiction
Rx for Science Literacy is partnering with the Wake Forest School of Medicine to present The Brain: Understanding Neurobiology Through the Study of Addiction. This one-day workshop is based on an NIH curriculum that addresses the fundamentals of neurobiology, how drugs of abuse change the brain and how drug addiction is a treatable, chronic brain disease.
The Rx for Science Literacy workshop series, hosted by the North Carolina Association for Biomedical Research, provides K-12 educators a unique opportunity to tour research facilities, hear from scientists about their latest research advances and take home a free curriculum and other bioscience education materials.
Incentives for attending an Rx for Science Literacy workshop include:
- 1 unit of certification renewal credit for North Carolina-certified educators (4 hours of additional work required)
- Free supplemental curriculum and other bioscience education materials to use in the classroom
- Free lunch
- Substitute teacher support (up to $80)
