Food Evolution Screening and Panel Discussion
On Thursday, March 22, Meredith College will host a screening of the film "Food Evolution" narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson. From Academy Award® nominee Scott Hamilton Kennedy, this 52-minute long documentary takes a science-based look at the role of genetic engineering in meeting the goals of sustainable food production.
The film will be followed by a panel discussion including:
- Anastasia Bodnar, Ph.D., a science communicator who serves as the policy director of Biology Fortified, Inc., a non-profit organization that fosters conversation about issues in food and agriculture
- Fred Gould, Ph.D., a distinguished university professor of entomology and co-director of the Genetic Engineering and Society Center of North Carolina State University
- Michelle Schroeder-Moreno, Ph.D., an associate professor of agroecology in the department of Crop and Soil Sciences at North Carolina State University
