As part of the Distinguished Speaker Series, Charlotte Biology and Biotechnology (CBB) Exchange Group presents The ATR Signaling Circuitry: From Basic Biology to Cancer Therapy featuring Lee Zou, Ph.D.

Zou is a professor of pathology with Harvard Medical School, an Associate Scientific Director and James & Patricia Poitras Endowed Chair in Cancer Research with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center, and a Jim & Ann Orr MGH Research Scholar Associate Member with The Broad Institute.

The Zou laboratory is particularly interested in understanding how the signaling network checkpoint detects DNA damage and genomic instability, and how the checkpoint can be targeted in cancer therapy. Current studies are focused on the activation of ATR and ATM, the master sensor kinases of two major checkpoint pathways.

The CBB Exchange Group, sponsored by University of North Carolina Charlotte and the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, brings faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, as well as technicians and scholars in biology and biotechnology together in the greater Charlotte region for information exchange, and to foster industry and academic partnership, economic development and professional networking opportunities.

The Distinguished Speaker Series theme for academic year 2017-2018 is Genome Integrity and Cancer Etiology.
