Before joining the Biotechnology Center, Robin was a reporter for The Daily Press in Newport News, Va., the High Point Enterprise and the Burlington (N.C.) Times-News.

Robin earned a dual-degree in journalism and general science from Penn State University. She holds a certification in project management from N.C. State University and completed leadership training with Grinnell Leadership. She writes in her spare time and volunteers with the SPCA of Wake County.
