Industry Needs Alignment
Biotechnology Center staff members periodically survey employment needs in North Carolina’s biotechnology industry. Since 1996, one of the main questions is the education and training requirements for employees in the bioprocessing and pharmaceutical manufacturing sector:
- The last survey of this sector, conducted in the winter of 2002-2003, is reported in Window on the Workplace 2003.
- Education and Training Program staff have developed a manual, The Model Employee: Preparation for Careers in the Biopharmaceutical Industry. Written for North Carolina educators, the publication contains detailed job descriptions, task lists and an analysis of the requisite technical knowledge and skill for six entry-level jobs in the biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical industries.
- More information about careers in the biotechnology industry in general is available through the Career Pathways section of our Web site. The publication is also available in PDF.
