Genomics Conference

Communications Focus Group
An annual conference will provide a venue for presentation of papers and posters by academics and professionals to share the latest research in the field of genomics. Information on attending and presenting at the conference will be posted soon.

Genomics Consortium Database

Communications Focus Group
As a resource for our Associates, a database of organizations and people involved in the biotechnology/genomics industry was created, providing easy access to important information. For information about this database, please call 919-541-9366.

Humanities Fellows Program

Ethical/Societal/Cultural Focus Group
As science delves ever deeper into our understanding of life and the blueprints that govern it, questions of ethical, legal, and societal implications (ELSI) inevitably arise. To explore these issues, the North Carolina Genomics and Bioinformatics Consortium is partnering with the National Humanities Center to create a scholarly project that will span five years and include multiple seminars and an international conference.

Fact Sheets

Ethical/Societal/Cultural Focus Group
Interested in learning about the legal issues and risks surrounding genetic discrimination? These documents, written by the Genomics Consortium, address issues of law and individual rights in North Carolina.

NC BioGrid

High Performance Computing and Data Storage Focus Group
The North Carolina BioGrid has entered its test phase. The grid will allow life science researchers across the state fast access to vast amounts of genomics and proteomics data and the ability to analyze it.

ExPASy

High Performance Computing & Data Storage Focus Group
The ExPASy (Expert Protein Analysis System) server of the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) is dedicated to the analysis of protein sequences and structures. NCGBC successfully established the sole U.S. mirror site at the North Carolina Super Computing Center.

Education Summit

Education & Training Focus Group
This conference, held in late April 2002, brought together key representatives from industry, academia, and government to discuss the impact of the Genomic Revolution on science and math education in North Carolina. For a record of the meeting, see our Summit Report. Also see our white paper "Science and Math Education in a Genomic Society".

Genomics Revolution Exhibit

Education & Training Focus Group
The Genomics Consortium was instrumental in bringing the Genomics Revolution Exhibit to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. The American Museum of Natural History created the exhibit in Raleigh during which thousands of citizens visited the exhibit. .
