Robert A. Lindberg, Ph.D., RAC, directs the Biotechnology Center's Business Acceleration and Technology Out-licensing Network (BATON) program, which supports the creation of sustainable biotechnologies based on university-originated technologies having viable commercial opportunity.

The BATON program leverages contributed inception-stage services from the community with funding from the Center's TEAM loan program to corroborate and focus the company's commercial vision, and assists in identifying and engaging an entrepreneur to move the company forward.

In his current role and in his previous position as the Technology Development Director, Lindberg has gained an understanding of what it takes to move a biotechnology product from the mind to the marketplace. He shares his insights with a series of columns on subjects that range from regulatory approval to technology transfer.
