SCYNEXIS Gathers Protein Pros

Research Triangle Park-based SCYNEXIS is hosting a free public seminar Monday, June 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, featuring a panel of world-class experts in a scientific review of the use of cyclophilin inhibitors in the treatment of human diseases.

Cyclophilin inhibition is a mechanism for targeting and inactivating disease-specific protein triggers in a variety of therapeutic areas including serious viral diseases, central nervous system disorders and autoimmune diseases.

The seminar, "Current Perspectives on the Role of Cyclophilin Inhibitors in the Pathophysiology and Treatment of Human Disease," is being held at the Hilton Raleigh Durham Airport Hotel, 4810 Old Page Road, in Research Triangle Park.

It will feature the discoverer of the cyclophilin class of enzymatic proteins, Professor Dr. Gunter Fischer, managing director at the Max-Planck Institute for Enzymology of Protein Folding in Halle, Germany. Presentations will also be given by infectious disease experts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill including Dr. Michael Fried, professor of medicine and director of hepatology, and Dr. Joseph Eron, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases.
