Durham-based HyperBranch Medical Technology has received regulatory approval to market its OcuSeal liquid ocular bandage in Europe and other countries outside the United States.
HyperBranch said in late December it was granted the CE Mark for OcuSeal, which provides a protective barrier to corneal, conjunctiva, and sclera surfaces while stabilizing ocular wounds following surgical or non-surgical trauma and other ocular conditions. OcuSeal's unique, single-use one-handed brush device permits sterile, direct application to the eye.
John Conn, HyperBranch president and CEO, said similar approval is expected during 2008 for the company's brain and hernia mesh fixation products. A lung-treating product is also under development, he said.
