Wyeth Recognized For Employee Protection Efforts

The North Carolina Department of Labor recognized Wyeth's employee safety efforts at the company's Sanford vaccine manufacturing and research facility and the research facility in Research Triangle Park.

The state department of labor designated those Wyeth sites for inclusion in the Carolina STAR program, the Occupational Safety and Health Department's most prestigious program for general industry. It recognizes work sites that are self-sufficient in their ability to control hazards through comprehensive and successful safety and health programs and acknowledges those sites as leaders in employee protection.

Nita Tosic, managing director of Wyeth's Sanford facility said, "We are excited to be recognized with the Carolina STAR award and to be the first recipient among pharmaceutical manufacturers in the state. Our commitment to employee health and safety is steadfast, and we will continue to be active supporters of the state's efforts with this program."

Only 104 of the 230,000 employers in North Carolina have been recognized as Carolina STAR sites. Wyeth's Sanford facility is the largest single-site employer to receive this honor.

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth, has leading products in the areas of women's health care, infectious disease, gastrointestinal health, central nervous system, inflammation, transplantation, hemophilia, oncology, vaccines and nutritional products.
