Advanced Liquid Logic Honored by the Wall Street Journal

Advanced Liquid Logic of Morrisville, a microfluidics "lab-on-a-chip" spinout from Duke University's Pratt School of Engineering, was named as the runner-up in the Wall Street Journal's 2007 Technology Innovation Awards semiconductors category.

Advanced Liquid Logic's core technology involves electronic wizardry for moving and analyzing minuscule droplets of liquid -- droplets measured in microliters and even nanoliters. That's a millionth and a billionth of a liter, respectively. To put that into perspective, a typical raindrop contains about 50 microliters of water.

The company was also hailed in June as the 2007 Entrepreneurial Company of the Year by Frost & Sullivan, a global growth consulting company.

The Biotechnology Center awarded a $160,000 Strategic Growth Loan to the company in 2006.
