Construction has started on the Wet Lab LaunchPad in the Richard H. Dean Biomedical Research Building at the Piedmont Triad Research Park in Winston-Salem.
The LaunchPad will offer affordable laboratory space and offices to start-up biotechnology firms.
"This is the kind of space that small, young biotech companies desperately need to be able to develop their products," said Randal Pool, chairman of the Wet Lab LaunchPad Concept Team. "But most of those companies can't afford to pay for that kind of space and still be able to compete in their market. This low-cost lab space can give them a good starting point."
