United Therapeutics Expansion Plans Will Bring 160 New Jobs

United Therapeutics Corp., a drug manufacturer focusing on cardiovascular, infectious and oncological diseases, will create 160 new jobs after completing construction of its new research-and-development and manufacturing facility in Research Triangle Park.

The company will invest $54.3 million over three years and use a $175,000 contribution from the One North Carolina Fund, a state-based industry recruitment and expansion tool. The new jobs would pay an average annual salary of about $65,000, higher than the $34,268 Durham County average, a news release stated.

"United Therapeutics' decision to expand in North Carolina is a testament to our business-friendly climate and skilled workforce," said Gov. Mike Easley said.
