Tryton Medical Relocates to RTP

Tryton Medical, a developer of stent technology, is relocating its headquarters from Massachusetts to Research Triangle Park. The company has also named J. Greg Davis, formerly president of Guidant, Japan, as its new chief executive officer.

Tryton produces the Tryton Side-Branch Stent (TM) to treat coronary artery lesions involving a bifurcation -- a blockage of a major side-branch artery. Bifurcation lesions account for approximately 20 percent of 2.2 million angioplasty procedures performed each year.

Last month Tryton secured a $14 million Series C round of financing that includes financing from PTV Sciences, RiverVest Venture Partners and Spray Venture Partners.

Aaron V. Kaplan, M.D., Associate Professor of Medicine at Dartmouth Medical School, and Dan Cole, General Partner of Spray Venture Partners, launched the company in 2003 to develop proprietary stent technology to treat branchpoint lesions.
