RTI International has won a contract worth at least $80 million to help strengthen environmental services for the government of Abu Dhabi.
The 10-year agreement represents the second major contract in the United Arab Emirates for RTI, a nonprofit research organization based in Research Triangle Park. In 2006, RTI signed a deal with the Biotechnology and Research Park in Dubai to help develop scientific and regulatory standards in the Middle Eastern life sciences industry.
Under terms of its agreement with the Abu Dhabi government, RTI will provide various types of aid to the government's environmental workers. In a statement, RTI says those services could range from accrediting environmental consultants to establishing monitoring programs for transportation and industrial projects.
