A deal between Precision BioSciences Inc. and DuPont may give farmers crops with higher yields and improved health faster.
The technololgy collaboration between the Durham-based company and DuPont's Pioneer Hi-Bred business allows multiple beneficial traits - like resistence to disease, cold and pests - to be included in corn, soybeans and other common crops. The technology also shortens the time it takes to find and prove these traits.
"To meet growing demand for food, feed and fuel around the world, we must increase agricultural productivity," said William S. Niebur, vice president - DuPont Crop Genetics Research and Development.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
