PPD Adding Site at Research Campus in Kannapolis

Wilmington-based contract research organization PPD has announced plans to open a facility that will add 200 to 300 new clinical research jobs to the North Carolina Research Campus in Kannapolis.

In making the announcement today, PPD said the jobs will be added over the next two to three years in a 40,000-square-foot office space co-located with Carolinas Healthcare System in the campus' Medical Office Building.

Fred Eshelman, CEO of PPD, said the site will provide jobs for clinical research associates, clinical project managers and other medical and scientific personnel to collaborate with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies emerging in the region and beyond.

"You are beginning to see that buildings aren't the only thing rising in Kannapolis," said Clyde Higgs, vice president of business development for the campus, during a news conference announcing the PPD addition. "Having a global contract research organization like PPD at the research campus continues our mission to make the NC Research Campus the world's top scientific community that will be the home of groundbreaking research and development."
