ISPE Partners with NC State to offer Biomanufacturing Courses

Access to top level education is one of the many perks of living and working in North Carolina. On May 12 - 14, North Carolina professionals in biomanufacturing can experience hands-on training from industry leaders in a state-of-the-art facility - all in their own backyard.

ISPE, a global not-for-profit association of 25,000 pharmaceutical science and manufacturing professionals, is partnering with NC State University's Golden LEAF Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) in Raleigh to offer four three-day biotechnology courses.

These courses, the first ISPE collaboration of this kind with an American university, will be held in BTEC's simulated current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) facility. Therefore participants can learn skills and techniques specific to the biomanufacturing industry on equipment that matches those in place at the world's leading biomanufacturing companies.

The partnership between ISPE and NC State University is one of the few opportunities for professionals to receive this industry-specific training. Each course includes lectures, problem-solving workshops, and hands-on activities. The four topics offered are:

In addition to offering Continuing Education credits, several of the courses contain information related to competencies for the Certified Pharmaceutical Industry ProfessionalSM (CPIPSM).

BTEC, which opened its doors in September 2007, is the largest facility of its kind in the nation. Its biomanufacturing pilot plant complex is capable of producing biopharmaceutical products and packaging them in a sterile environment using commercial-scale equipment. It is currently the only facility in the U.S. that can do this from inoculation to filling.
