Edgeton Named Piedmont Triad Research Park President

The Piedmont Triad Research Park's board of directors named Douglas L. Edgeton as the permanent president of the 230-acre life science and information technology research complex in Winston-Salem.

He will also continue to handle his duties as the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Wake Forest University Health Sciences. Edgeton replaces Richard Dean, the retired medical school leader who led an expansion of the park.

"Following the retirement of Dr. Richard Dean, we are very fortunate to have someone as capable as Doug Edgeton at the helm of this major community initiative," said Nathan O. Hatch, president of Wake Forest University. "The research park holds great promise for the future of Winston-Salem and the region, and Doug has the business insight and leadership ability to help move the project forward."
